Some businesses become part of the Wigan Business Awards in more ways than one.

They enter. They win, then come back and support other businesses.

And, somewhere along the way, they become part of the wider Awards community.

The Snug Coffee House is definitely one of those businesses.

After being involved with the Wigan Business Awards from day one, we’re delighted to now welcome The Snug. They are one of our official Entertainment Sponsors for 2026.

It’s fair to say they know the campaign pretty well by now.

Coffee shop by day and grassroots music venue by night. The Snug’s Wigan Business Awards story really gathered pace in 2024 when they were named Leisure and Travel Business of the Year.

That same year, founder Rachael McEntee also took home the Community Impact Award. Recognising the work she does through The Snug and Hey Ho Let’s Sew and the impact that work makes within the local community.

Their return in 2025 saw Highly Commended recognition in the Hospitality Business of the Year category. While also supporting the event as one of the Ceremony Drinks Sponsors.

Celebrating local businesses means noticing the people around you doing brilliant things. Taking the time to make sure somebody else notices them too.

Rachael also takes the time to nominate others.

And when we say nominate, we don’t mean quickly adding a name to a form and moving on. Rachael has submitted some incredibly thoughtful and compelling nominations over the years. Making sure the people and businesses she believes deserve recognition have their stories properly told.

Rachael has also been part of our judging panels since the beginning, giving her time to meet and interview finalists, including businesses she may never have come across before.

So, by now, Rachael has experienced the Wigan Business Awards from just about every angle.

This year, The Snug isn’t exactly taking it easy either.

They’ve entered again and are through as finalists in three different categories: Skills Investment Excellence and Employer of the Year, with Event Manager Ben Morgan shortlisted for Employee of the Year.

Rachael, owner of The Snug, said:

“The Wigan Business Awards have become something we genuinely look forward to every year. I’ve been lucky enough to experience it as a judge, an entrant, a winner and a sponsor, and every part of it has given me the chance to meet some incredible people and businesses from across our towns.

“For us, supporting the Awards is about being part of something that celebrates the people who are getting up every day and making things happen locally. We know exactly what it feels like to be sitting there as a finalist, so being able to support the event as an Entertainment Sponsor this year makes it even more special.”

That is exactly the kind of community we hoped the Wigan Business Awards would create.

We’re delighted to welcome The Snug as an Entertainment Sponsor for the Wigan Business Awards 2026 and wish the whole team, and Ben, the very best of luck as finalists.
