So, you’ve been named a Wigan Business Awards 2025 finalist, congratulations!

That’s already a huge achievement. But what happens next? Here’s a simple guide to help you prepare for the judging process.

Step 1: The Interview Invitation

Each finalist will be invited to attend a judging interview on Zoom over the coming weeks.

You’ll meet a panel of independent judges who will listen to you present your business and ask questions about your entry.

The interviews are friendly and designed to give you a chance to shine.

Step 2: The Judges

Our judging panels are made up of respected business leaders from across the UK from as far North as Scotland and all the way down to Surrey.

They bring a wealth of knowledge and experience, and they know exactly how tough it can be to run a business. Their role is to look for passion, impact, and the story behind your success.

Step 3: The Questions

Expect questions about your award entry, your achievements, and your plans for the future. Judges may also ask about your team, your values, and how you support the local community.

Don’t worry – it’s not an exam. It’s your chance to talk about what makes your business special.

Step 4: How to Prepare

  • Re-read your award entry before the interview.
  • Think of clear examples that show your impact.
  • Be ready to share your future goals.
  • Most importantly – be yourself.

Step 5: After the Interviews

Once all interviews are complete, judges will share their scores with the facilitator on the day.

The judges will not know who the winners are until they are revealed at the Wigan Business Awards ceremony on Friday, 7th November at The Edge

This is so that we can invite the judges to the finalist networking event on the 17th of October.

They can meet with the sponsors and finalists before the big night without having the worry of giving anything away.

A Final Word

Making it this far is something to be proud of. The interviews are just another chance to showcase your hard work.

Good luck to all of our finalists, we can’t wait to celebrate with you soon!
