As the 2025 Wigan Business Awards celebrated the successes of people borough-wide they also showcased the incredible generosity of our local business community.

During this year’s ceremony at The Edge, guests came together in memory of Baby G. A local cause that has touched many hearts.

A simple raffle quickly became an act of kindness, proving once again that Wigan businesses love to give back.

The raffle, donations, and countless spontaneous acts of generosity raised a massive £4,326 on the night.

Every penny will be donated to Three Wishes Charity, the official charity of Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust. It will help local families when they need it most.

Huge thanks go to the local companies who made the fundraising such a success:

A luxurious one-night stay at Wrightington Hotel, Health Club and Spa, including afternoon tea, a spa treatment, dinner, bed and breakfast for two people, was kindly donated by Varty’s Funeral Directors and Monumental Masons.

Their generosity helped the Wigan Business Awards raise vital funds and reminded everyone that local collaboration makes a real difference.

Nichola Howard, Co-Founder of Launch North West, organisers of the Wigan Business Awards, said:

“This moment summed up everything we stand for. To see so many people give so freely, In Memory of Baby G, was incredibly moving. It’s proof that Wigan and Leigh’s biggest strength has always been its heart.”

The Baby G fundraiser showed that behind the trophies and celebrations, Wigan’s businesses share one goal, to support their community and each other.

To everyone who donated, shared, and supported, thank you. Your compassion turned an evening of celebration into a night of true community spirit.
