DASCO is back for another year as sponsor of the People’s Choice Award at the Wigan Business Awards 2026.
This will be the third year DASCO has sponsored the biggest public-facing category in the Awards.
The People’s Choice Award gives people across the borough the chance to get behind the businesses they know, use and support.
For DASCO, that’s the local connection they’ve bought into.
The Wigan-based construction business has grown significantly in recent years. However, its roots remain firmly in the borough.
DASCO employs local people and apprentices, works with local suppliers and supports charities, community groups and grassroots initiatives. As a result, the business continues to put money and opportunity back into the area where it began.
Backing the businesses people believe in
The People’s Choice Award is different from every other category at the Wigan Business Awards.
There is no judging panel deciding the winner.
Instead, the public chooses.
Last year, the category attracted 88,742 votes as people across Wigan and Leigh rallied behind the businesses they wanted to support.
That level of engagement says a lot about the relationships local businesses build with their customers, communities and supporters.
From finalist to sponsor to multiple winner
DASCO’s history with the Wigan Business Awards goes back several years.
Before the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce handed the reins to Launch NW, DASCO took Highly Commended for Family Business of the Year in 2018.
Then, in 2019, the business returned and won the category.
When the Awards returned in 2024 after a four-year break, DASCO came back as People’s Choice sponsor. The team also had a huge night of its own.
DASCO won Family Business of the Year, Employer of the Year and Wigan’s Business of the Year. Meanwhile, Charlotte Rothwell took home Employee of the Year.
And the success continued.
DASCO returned as People’s Choice sponsor in 2025 and once again reached the finals.
The team went on to retain the title of Wigan’s Business of the Year. DASCO also took Highly Commended for Employer of the Year and reached the final for Family Business of the Year.
Now, in 2026, DASCO returns for a third year as People’s Choice sponsor.
Over the years, that relationship has taken the business from highly commended family business to multiple winner and long-standing sponsor. DASCO has also become one of the most consistent names in the Awards.
Who gets your vote?
Once voting opens, every People’s Choice finalist will have the same opportunity to rally their supporters.
Customers, suppliers, colleagues, friends and communities can all get involved.
And if previous years are anything to go by, things could get competitive.
The People’s Choice Vote opens on October 12th.
